Next week we will be celebrating the largest addition of new members to our church. We are also pleased to have two baptisms. We are looking forward to a joyous day to welcoming new brothers and sisters to our community.
God has increased our numbers and continues to pour out his blessings on our congregation. In times of growth, however, we can become complacent; we can sit back and let other people do the job of hospitality and mercy. But this is not an option for you. You are bound to this congregation by sacred vows. With new members your responsibilities increase. Passivity is not an option. God has called this congregation to be a light in this city. We are a new and restored community through Jesus Christ. Whether in good or bad times, let us fight the good fight for our labors in the Lord are not in vain.
Prayer: O God, we thank you for the history of this church. As we approach ten years of existence we cannot but see your right hand guiding this body. We thank you that even in the weakness of the leaders you have given this congregation, yet you have seen fit to establish a mature and ever maturing community. Strengthen us, guide us, be our ever present help at all times, for this is our prayer, O Lord. Amen.
